  • Vision Series Event - McIntosh County Shouters

    Thursday, 10/7/2010 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM LFG Auditorium
The McIntosh County Shouters were formed as a professional performing group in 1980. This does not mean, however, that 1980 is when they began “shouting”. This call-and-response form of communication was formed in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was used in the plantations as a means of communication while working in the rice fields during the days of slavery. Often Biblical in nature, the songs and vignettes they shouted out could range from spirituals to talking about a child's illness or even death of a loved one.
This event is free and open to the public.
  • Vision Series Trip - Dream Girls

CATCH THE DREAM- DREAMGIRLS tells the story of an up-and-coming, 1960s singing girl group, and the triumphs and tribulations that come with fame and fortune. With music by Academy® Award nominee Henry Krieger and book and lyrics by Tony® and Grammy®-Award winner Tom Eyen, DREAMGIRLS features the unforgettable hits: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," "One Night Only" and "Listen." Broadway director and choreographer Robert Longbottom, along with some of Broadway's top designers, re-envision this Tony® and Academy® Award winning musical so it sparkles like never before!
